October 2009 Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering helps you connect with IABC/Austin’s great network and gives you the possibility to get so much more out of your membership! Following are some current opportunities:

Position: Chair, Member Involvement
Responsibilities: Volunteers are the lifeblood of a vibrant organization. The chair of member involvement manages volunteer recruitment, matching members interests with opportunities. Responsibilities include compiling current volunteer opportunities, contacting new and current members, attending meetings, promoting volunteer opportunities on the IABC website and tracking volunteer engagement. This is a key position within the membership portfolio.

Position: Award Entry Coordinator
Responsibilities: The award entry coordinator directs and assists in the promotion of IABC Minnesota Awards judging programs, including training workshops and Bronze Quill judging panels. The coordinator helps manage Bronze Quill entries and entry materials, assisting in coordinating judging with other chapter judges, packaging and mailing entries, tracking winners and communication to all entrants. This position reports to awards judging co-chairs.

Position: 2010 Bronze Quill Committee Members
The 2010 Bronze Quills are closer than you think! The time is ripe for picking our best ideas for a location, promotion and improvements. Are you interested in meeting new people, gaining valuable, hands-on experience, building your resume, or giving back to others with your time, knowledge or experience? If any of the above describe you, then Bronze Quill is the committee for you! We are currently looking for volunteers to help with: logistics, events, judging coordination, communication, and assisting with our e-mentoring program. Position: Chair, Mentorship Program
Responsibilities: Help us launch our new local mentorship program, connecting seasoned communications professionals with those students and young professionals just starting in their careers or individuals looking to making a career change.

Position: Chair, Historian
Responsibilities: Attend and photograph IABC/Austin events.
